The Curator’s Words
The Individual. The Class. The School.
At the 2013 Degree Exhibition, the work of 162 students will be presented to the public. Various programs and different levels of education will come together to form a whole that in some cases is united solely by the fact that the students happen to come from the same academic institution. But it is at this institution that both theoretical and practical knowledge has been mediated and has undergone the transformation that has led to an exhibition; an exhibition that can be seen as a final result, but which for many is just a beginning.
By doing away with any division of Bachelor and Master and by avoiding separate exhibition rooms, a larger group exhibition emerges and weaves together the different specializations. This is seen both within the programs and within the university’s various subject groups.
The presented works range from real, practical objects to immaterial presentations of ideas. They form a mold of what is important to Konstfack’s students in 2013, a historical document that is open to the visitors’ interpretation. The presentations take place in both private and shared contexts, through workshops and in the individual’s perception of the objects. The aim of the exhibition is to create something – all within the given framework – that shows both the individual and the whole, the classes and the university, the objects and the ideas.

2013 års Vårutställning innebär att 162 studenters arbeten ska presenteras. Olika program och olika utbildningsnivåer möts och bildar tillsammans en enhet som i vissa fall enbart har det gemensamt att studenterna råkar figurera på samma akademiska institution. Men det är på denna institution som både teoretisk och praktisk kunskap har förmedlats och genomgått den omdaning som lett till en utställning. En utställning som kan ses som ett slutresultat, men som för många bara är en början.
Genom att undvika indelningar i kandidat och master och undvika många separerade utställningsrum, växer en större grupputställning fram som väver samman de olika inriktningarna. Det syns både inom programmen och inom högskolans olika ämnesgrupper.
De verk som presenteras går från reella nyttoföremål till immateriella presentationer av idéer. De bildar en avgjutning av vad som är viktigt för Konstfacks studenter 2013, ett tidsdokument som blir fritt att tolka för besökaren. Det är både i det gemensamma och det personliga presentationerna sker, genom workshops och i den egna upplevelsen av tingen. Målet med utställningen är, att inom det uppställda ramverket skapa någonting som visar både individen och helheten, klasserna och högskolan samt tingen och idéerna.
