Burn-Out
I primarily work with and through glass, but I also use other materials like textile, metal, ceramic and epoxy. Through my work I got to a point where I started to question the
current ideals that are connected to form within our field, and to be able to
continue with glass; I had to find a texture or expression in glass that was not
shiny, thin and all of the other things that I learned glass should be. This led
to the development of a new technique called Burn-Out. This material
development has now become my method to question a norm of perfect smooth
surfaces and the power structure that supports and maintains that hierarchy of
expressions.
Jag arbetar med och genom glas, men använder även andra material såsom textil, metall, keramik och epoxy. Genom mitt arbete kom jag till en punkt där jag började ifrågasätta rådande formideal inom vårt fält. För att kunna fortsätta mitt arbete var jag tvungen att hitta ett uttryck i glas som inte var blankt, tunt, transparent och allt annat som jag har lärt mig att glas skall vara. Detta ledde till utvecklingen av en ny teknik, som kallas Burn-Out. Den här materialutvecklingen har nu blivit min metod att ifrågasätta normen som strävar efter en perfekt jämn och slät yta, samt de maktstrukturer som stärker och vidmakthåller den ordningen.
